It's true!
- The American beaver is North America’s largest rodent and is ideally suited for its aquatic lifestyle.
- As a rodent (Latin for “to gnaw”), a beaver must gnaw to wear down its front teeth, which never stop growing.
- Beavers do not eat fish or other aquatic animals, but love willow and aspen bark as well as the roots of pond lilies.
- Beaver dams are made of tree trunks, branches, sticks, and mud, reaching 6 - 8 feet tall and 1/4 mile long.
